- · "The very power of God is found in His attributes of godliness. The power of the priesthood is maintained by these attributes. We seek these attributes, especially charity, the pure love of Christ."

- · "As a young man on a mission, I recall reading Paul’s words to the Corinthian Saints and pondering what he meant by the phrase “faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.” (1 Cor. 13:13.) I wondered why charity should be the greatest. Charity was a word I did not understand. Part of the reason for my dilemma was that the common use of the term charity did not seem to be consistent with the doctrinal or scriptural use. As I searched the pages of the Book of Mormon, I gained a new view. Mormon, an ancient prophet of the Americas, connected the word charityto the Savior. He declared that “charity is the pure love of Christ, and it endureth forever.” (Moro. 7:47.)"

- · "Note that charity is given only to those who seek it, only to those who earnestly pray for it, only to those who are Disciples of Christ. Before we can be filled with this pure love, we must start at the beginning with the first principle of the gospel. We must have “first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.”

- · "It is only when we love God and Christ with all of our hearts, souls, and minds that we are able to share this love with our neighbors through acts of kindness and service… When this pure love of Christ—or charity—envelops us, we think, feel, and act more like Heavenly Father and Jesus would think, feel, and act. Our motivation and heartfelt desire are like unto that of the Savior."

- · “I believe the Savior here teaches us a great lesson. There are those who have want, and in his great charitable way he will provide, for I believe the pure love of Christ is welfare. I believe it seeks out beyond the dimensions of that which we do. I think it is charity in its purest form.”

The lives of charitable women are so imbued with the pure love of our Savior that charity is the way we think and act every day of our lives.”

- Position Statement:
One thing I love about the church is
how everybody tries to at least appear helpful.
Not every Mormon embraces the blessings of charity, but for the most
part everyone tries their best. Everyone
tries to reach out to someone and to help when they can, including me. But I realized there is always so much more
we can do. I learned that one of the
best ways to do charitable acts is to spread the gospel to those who are
ready. This is something I struggle
with, but I’ve learned it’s something I must improve on. I need to invite people more often to church
and activities and bring it up more often in normal conversation. I also need to reach out to people I haven’t
seen in a while more. I need to not
worry about rejection and not take it personally. I need to reflect on events that happen to me
and others and try to act like Jesus would.
